The Worst Phone Call Of My Life - 1911 Words

On February 5th 2006 I received the worst phone call of my entire life. The day before was my eighteenth birthday in which two of my best friends help celebrate with food, pop, and games! On that night I invited my three closest friends, one of which never showed. Throughout the night my friends and I continually phoned our friend to try and figure out why he never showed up. After numerous attempts we decided he most likely drank too much beer, while his parents were known to be out of town, and just passed out forgetting about my birthday. The next morning I had a voicemail from my friends Mom asking me if he ever came over my house because he was no were to be found. I immediately phoned my friends mother and she sadly informed me that my friend was found in the woods unconscious after hitting a tree with his snowmobile. He was found at 6 am in the morning by his father in -20 degree weather. My friend was unconscious for almost 8 hours in the cold before being rushed to the Unive rsity of Michigan Medical center. I have always been interested in computers my entire life, from the engineering aspect all the way to software development. The weeks following my friend’s accident proved to shape my interest in computer science and artificial intelligence greatly. Frostbite to his fingers prompted doctors to remove all ten with just leaving his hands in place.
